> Investigation Reports

We have the authority under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) to conduct investigations into any alleged privacy breach by organizations regarding collection, use or disclosure of personal information. Such an investigation can be initiated if we receive a complaint. The Commissioner can also independently initiate an investigation after becoming aware of a reasonable basis to believe that an organization may have a practice, policy or procedure of concern.

The outcomes of investigations that are of significant public interest, or which could provide guidance to organizations in order to prevent similar violations, are published in Investigation Reports. This section contains the text of such reports.
